SOUL MATES Cancer cells are abnormal cells that grow out of control and are able to migrate. You might not realize it, but we all have some level of cancer cells in our body at any moment. (Yikes!) All cancer cells are doing is searching for their soul mate: sugar. In 1931 Dr. Otto Warburg discovered that cancer cells “Generate energy by glycolysis, the non-ooxidative breakdown of glucose in the absence of oxygen.” In other words, sugar is food for cancer cells, so the more sugar that is in your body, the more likely you are to hear those dreaded three words from your physician: ‘You have cancer’. IT’S EVERYWHERE!!!! A horror film wouldn’t seem right without the helpless woman, hands on her cheeks, screaming. When you take a close look at food labels, you will have the same reaction (ignore any odd looks from shoppers). That’s because sugar is everywhere. For example, you will find sugar in ketchup, salad dressing, cereal, bread, peanut butter, baby foods, sauces, salt, and beverages.(click here for a list of more items that have hidden sugar). The worst part is that most of these hidden sugars are hydrogenated, but we will save that topic for another day. With sugar being snuckered into almost everything we consume, it is difficult for healthy cells to get the oxygen they need to remain prevalent in the body. SOLUTION Before you start running crazy, searching for an answer like Vinz Clortho the Key Master from Ghostbusters, let me share the solution to preventing cancer: maintain a strong immune system and don’t feed it sugar. Your immune system’s job is to find harmful cells and destroy them, but if you are shoveling junk into your body (even “healthy” junk) then your immune system will not be able to do it’s job. A sure fire way to ensure you are not overdosing on sugar is to eat whole foods. Whole foods will be veggies that you prepare yourself, meats that come straight from the butcher’s block (preferably grass fed), and berries for your fruits.
There is more to the story, but I would like to give you some time to process what we have just learned and apply it to your life right now. I am a firm believer in baby steps (hey it’s how we all got our start with walking).
