5 Top Nutrition Myths

9/1/2020

The world of nutrition is convoluted. In fact if you try to keep up you'd be yo-yo dieting constantly!
Part of the reason is that nutrition research has been conducted as epidemiological studies.
This relies heavily on people remembering what they consume as well as being completely honest.
It is human nature to present oneself in the best light possible.

Recently, however, research has been working towards bypassing these shortcomings in order to get to the bottom of what is true. From this I give you the top 5 nutrition tips that have been redacted.

1. Fat is bad for you.

Truth is bad fat is bad for you. Your body needs good, healthy, saturated fats- specifically your brain. Low fat consumption leads to cognitive fog, decreased will power & poor judgement.
Boost your fat intake with avocado, coconut, butter, and animal fats.
2. Red meat is bad.

Not even close.
The problem here is that red meat refers to beef, lamb, pork, salami, & processed meats.
I'm sorry but pork is nowhere near red (the other white meat, right?). Processed meats aren't the same either and you know that they are bad for you. Your body needs the heme iron found only in true red meats.

3. Eat lots of carbs, little protein.

Carbs = glucose. Too much glucose and your body will store that as fat. Protein does not convert to glucose as much and so the potential for fat storage decreases. Best to eat more protein with a little carb.
4. Eat 3-6 meals a day.

Your body needs time to process the food it ingested. If you inundate your body with too much it will be in a constant state of processing and wear out quickly, better to give time for digestion and let that hunger hormone (grehlin) tell ya it's time for more!

5. Fasting will make you gain weight.

Au contraire!

Fasting, intermittent fasting, is exactly what will propel you into weight loss. This allows your body to burn stored fat, become metabolically flexible, and lean out. The purpose of eating is to fuel the system and when there is too much it gets stored, better to burn off the excess and supply as needed.
Any of these catch you by surprise?
